Tourism Manager Position
Bergrivier Tourism Organisation (BTO) is the official marketing agent of the tourism function of the Bergrivier Municipality and is responsible for the implementation of strategic direction and a marketing plan as per the Service Level Agreement. Furthermore, the role is to position and market the Bergrivier Region as a preferred tourism destination.
The Manager will be responsible for the management of staff, the visitor information centres of four towns, taking the lead in the implementation of a marketing plan and stakeholder relations. The Manager will also serve as a representative on relevant tourism forums, play a lead role in tourism development projects and manage the business and office systems, and budget.
REQUIREMENTS

Diploma/degree in marketing and/or tourism (postgraduate degree will be highly advantageous);

Minimum of 10 year’s work experience within the key performance areas (administration, marketing, development and human resources), of which 5 must have been in a management/senior position);

Leadership and team management skills, but also work independent;
-
Familiar with public sector processes and policies;
-
Willing to work overtime;

A valid driver’s licence (Code 8) and own vehicle;

Proficiency in two of the three Western Cape languages, of which Afrikaans must be one;

Proven record of networking skills within the different sectors of the industry.
DUTIES

Executing the SLA between the BTO and the Bergrivier Municipality;

To market the Bergrivier Region as a preferred destination;

Ensure a collaborative and partnership approach;

Event organising;
-
Responsible for the overall operations of the visitor information service centre;
-
Ensure and oversee the provision of visitor information;
-
Ensure and oversee the growth of the membership base of the BTO;
-
Actively support the transformation of the Organisation and the industry;
-
Effective management of financials and financial reporting to stakeholders;
-
Ensure sound management based on good governance practices;
-
Promote responsible integrated tourism development;

Reporting;

Attending monthly meeting re. implementation of the SLA i.e Municipal meetings, town committee meetings.
